The Empire State Building is the most famous skyscraper in the city of New York. It is situated on Fifth Avenue in the heart of Manhattan. Designed by the American architect William Frederick Lamb in an art deco style, it measures 381 meters and as much as 443,2 meters with the antenna. The Empire State Building was inaugurated on the 1st of May, 1931, Its construction had started in 1929. This skyscraper is considered as one of the 7 world wonders by the American Society Of Civil Engineers and represents a real symbol for Americans the same way as the Eiffel Tower in Paris for  French people.

5th Avenue

Fifth Avenue in New York is a must-see destination in Manhattan. It is one of the most famous avenues in the world. It is bordered by lots of parks, particularly Central Park, with historic buildings and museums like the mythical Metropolitan Museum of Art (MOMA). It is also the temple of fashion because the avenue has lots of luxury stores like Dior, Tiffany’s & Co and Chanel. Fifth Avenue is 6.81 miles long and it begins at Washington Square Park and finishes in the district of Harlem.

Chrysler Building

The Chrysler Building is a skyscraper in the south of Manhattan in the city of New York. The supervisor of the construction was the American architect William Van Alen. It began in 1928 and was inaugurated in 1930. It measures 318,9 m and it was the tallest structure in the United States until the construction of the Empire State Building. This skyscraper is of Art Deco style and the facade is brick-built. The first level has stores and the rest of the building is offices.

Flatiron Building

The Flatiron Building is an office building in Manhattan in New York City. The architect Daniel Burnham designed this building between 1900 and 1902. The Flatiron building measures 87 meters and there are 22 floors. It is not famous for its height but rather for its unique shape for a building because it looks like a flatiron. This strange shape of the building results from the intersection between the Fifth Avenue and Broadway that doesn’t respect the plan of alignment with right angle crossroads typical of New York, consequently it was obligatory to build a triangular building at this intersection.

Rockefeller Center

The Rockefeller Center is a commercial complex composed of 19 buildings and created by the famous Rockefeller family. It is situated in Midtown Manhattan between Fifth Avenue and the Avenue of the Americas. It is a place in New York where there are lots of luxury shops. The Rockefeller Center has been classified in The National Historic Landmark since 1988. The two architects of this complex are Raymond Hood and Wallace K. Harrison; both are American.  An observatory, named Top of the Rock, can be found at the top of the Comcast Building. During our trip we had the opportunity to admire the amazing panoramic view of the Big Apple.
