Un espace vert important 

Central Park est un espace vert en plein centre de Manhattan à New York aux États-Unis. Il a une superficie de 341 hectares (4 kilomètres sur 800 mètres) . Géré par la Central Park Conservancy, il dispose d’un budget annuel de 200 millions de dollars et il est entretenu au même titre que les autres espaces verts de la ville par le New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (département des espaces verts et des loisirs de la ville de New York).

Historique du parc

Ce parc fut créé en 1857 selon les plans de Frederick Law Olmsted et Calvert Vaux. C’est  le premier parc public américain entièrement conçu par l'Homme : il a demandé 15 ans de travaux. De nos jours, sa fréquentation est d’environ 37,5 millions d'habitants et de touristes et c’est un des parcs les plus sûrs du monde.

Anecdote

Auparavant,un caïman hantait les eaux troubles de l'un des lacs de Central Park. La bête a été relâchée en Floride après deux mois de travail pour l'attraper.

An important green space

Central Park is a green space in the center of Manhattan in N.Y. in the USA. It has an area of 341 hectares (4 kilometers by 800 meters). The park is managed by the Central Park Conservancy. It has an annual budget of $200 Million and is maintained in the same way as the other green spaces in the city by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.

Historical 

This park was created in 1857 according to the plans of Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. Central Park was the first American public parks; it took 15 years of work to be completed. Since 2005 it has been one of the safest parks in the world and nowadays it welcomes about 37.5 million people and tourists.

Anecdote

Previously, a crocodile lived in the murky waters of a Central Park pond. Luckily, after two months of work, the beast was captured and released in Florida
